On 4 July, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Bahar Seyidova reported on preparations for a large-scale archaeological exhibition entitled ‘The Flourishing of Cultures: The Bronze Age Margiana and the Parthian Kingdom. Archaeological Discoveries in Turkmenistan’ during a government meeting. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The initiative to organise the exhibition was put forward by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during the First ‘Central Asia – Italy’ Summit held in Astana. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister said that practical steps are currently being taken in Turkmenistan to modernise museums in line with contemporary requirements. For example, the largest museums have introduced a digital platform called ‘Virtual Museum’, which allows visitors to take remote tours and view exhibits online. The Museum of History and Local Lore in the city of Arkadag has introduced a QR code system that allows visitors to obtain information about the exhibits directly from their mobile devices. After listening to the report, the Head of State emphasised that museums play a key role in preserving, studying and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Turkmenistan internationally. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister was instructed to continue work on identifying and scientifically analysing national values with a view to preserving them for future generations.
On July 4, during a government meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on steps to develop cooperation with international and regional financial and economic structures and foreign countries. In particular, a proposal by the Asian Development Bank was presented on Turkmenistan's participation in the second phase of the Integrated Trade Agenda to 2030 of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Programme. On July 4, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Minister of Budget and Economic Planning of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. On 3 July, Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov met with Azerbaijan's Foreign Affairs Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. On 3 July, the draw for the group stage of the «CAFA Nations Cup-2025» football tournament took place. The Turkmenistan national team was placed in Group A alongside Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Oman. The tournament will take place from 29 August to 8 September: Group A matches will be hosted by Tashkent, and Group B matches will be hosted by Dushanbe. From 2 to 4 July, a seminar organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat. The event was part of a joint project on financial market development and institutional environment improvement. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. UNDP international expert Elena Andreeva presented to participants the key elements of the functioning of the securities market, from types of instruments to mechanisms for recording investor rights and the activities of depositories and registrars. The draft programme for the development of the securities market in Turkmenistan until 2030 and the plan for its implementation were also discussed. In addition to the training sessions, the expert held consultations with representatives of government agencies, presenting proposals for updating legislation and developing the country's financial system.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro on the occasion of Venezuela's Independence Day. President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Resolution according to which the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, as well as accompanying high-level events are planned to be held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone from August 4 to 8, the state information agency TDH reported. The Head of State signed the above document as part of Turkmenistan's foreign policy aimed at achieving sustainable development and implementing international and regional agreements, as well as in preparation for the above-mentioned conference.
On 4 July 2025, the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation was held in Khankendi under the slogan ‘New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future.’ The Turkmen delegation was headed by Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov, who in his speech stressed the importance of developing a new development strategy for the organisation until 2035. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The Head of the Turkmen Foreign Affairs Ministry emphasised the need to deepen cooperation in key areas, including the creation of effective transport corridors, diversification of energy supplies and the development of renewable energy sources. During the discussion on transport cooperation, Turkmenistan put forward an initiative to further integrate the transport and logistics systems of the organisation's member states. Byashimova and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Pawel Kowal held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The first face-to-face module of the regional Training Programme on Digital Trade and Multimodal Transport took place in Tashkent, with the participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan together with colleagues from other Central Asian countries. The event was organised as part of the project ‘Trade Facilitation in Central Asia’ with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Participants in the programme studied in detail modern digital tools aimed at harmonising multimodal transport in the region. A key element of the training was a multimodal transport reference data model, which allows all modes of transport to be integrated into a single system and significantly simplifies cross-border information exchange. The knowledge and skills gained will enable Turkmen specialists to make a practical contribution to the development of efficient logistics corridors in Central Asia, which is in line with the strategic objectives for the digital transformation of foreign trade operations in Turkmenistan.
Important bilateral meetings of the Turkmen delegation took place on 4 July, within the framework of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with Pakistani Foreign Affairs Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, paying particular attention to the implementation of major regional projects. The key topics were the TAPI gas pipeline (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), as well as projects to build power lines and fibre-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route. On the same day, a meeting was held with the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the UAE, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber. The talks focused on the development of cooperation in the energy sector, including promising projects in the gas industry. These meetings confirmed the parties' interest in deepening effective cooperation and implementing joint infrastructure projects that contribute to economic integration in the region.
