The Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented the achievements of the country in the Austrian Parliament
15.05.2025On 13 May 2025, a presentation on the political, social and economic development of Turkmenistan was held at the Austrian Parliament in Vienna. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Austria Khemra Amannazarov highlighted in detail the key directions of domestic and foreign policy of the country, paying special attention to the efforts of the national leadership to strengthen democratic institutions, develop inclusive governance and ensure sustainable economic growth. An important part of the speech was the discussion of regional cooperation, in particular, the interaction between Central Asia and the European Union. The Ambassador noted the active role of Turkmenistan in this process, recalling the holding of the 20th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting in Ashgabat on 27 March 2025, where the parties confirmed their interest in deepening constructive political dialogue. The event was a platform for exchanging views on strengthening economic ties, transport and communication integration and political partnership. The Austrian parliamentarians expressed support for Turkmenistan's initiatives and underlined their readiness to develop inter-parliamentary co-operation both with Turkmenistan and other countries of the Central Asian region.
In Bishkek, discussions were held regarding sports cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan
15.05.2025On 14 May, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic Nury Golliev met with Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Abdymomunov. This is reported by the IIC. The parties considered opportunities to expand cooperation in the sports sphere and discussed plans to hold joint events to strengthen bilateral ties. The central topic of the talks was the initiative of the Turkmen side to organise a bicycle race timed to coincide with the World Bicycle Day, which is celebrated on June 3. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on further development of sports interaction and implementation of joint projects between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan and Pakistan discussed cooperation in the energy sector
15.05.2025Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Atajan Movlamov held a meeting with Secretary of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) of Pakistan Jamil Ahmad Qureshi on 13 May. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission. According to the source, during the meeting, the Ambassador informed the interlocutor about the current situation on the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. It was emphasised that TAPI can attract significant investments, strengthen energy security and promote economic integration of the region. A.Movlamov emphasised the role of the project in improving mutual understanding and peace in the region. Other joint energy and infrastructure initiatives, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) project, were also discussed during the talks. The Pakistani side expressed gratitude for the active cooperation and reiterated Pakistan's desire for the earliest practical implementation of TAPI. Following the meeting, the interlocutors reaffirmed their commitment to deepening energy and trade co-operation, as well as strengthening regional ties.

15.05.2025Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan held a meeting with experts of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Tamara Kutonova and John Marco Church on 14 May. According to the source, within the framework of the talks, the importance of the ongoing work on the rational use of water resources as the main condition for the harmonious development of the agro-industrial complex and other sectors was noted. In addition, the sides considered the directions of bilateral partnership, as well as the activity of the parliaments on issues related to environmental security. The sides also stressed the importance of Turkmenistan's accession to a number of international documents on the efficient use of water resources, including the Helsinki Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes. Special emphasis was made on the importance of Turkmenistan's laws ‘On Nature Protection’, ‘On Drinking Water’, ‘On Environmental Analysis’ in strengthening the legal, economic and institutional framework for programme activities.

The guest expressed gratitude for the meeting and noted that it was an honour for his company to work in Turkmenistan, where a favourable investment climate has been created. The head of state warmly welcomed the head of Petronas and expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen bilateral relations. During the meeting, the sides emphasised the importance of mutual respect and equality in relations between the countries, as well as the significance of regular high-level visits. The President of Turkmenistan recalled his visit to Malaysia in December last year and noted that the talks with Petronas will give a new impetus to the development of partnership. Special attention is paid to the development of cooperation in economy, trade, transport, energy, education and culture. The main vector of Turkmen-Malaysian cooperation is trade and economic, where Petronas plays a key role, especially in the fuel and energy sector. The company has been involved in hydrocarbon production and training projects for almost 30 years. The President of Turkmenistan confirmed readiness to consider new proposals to expand co-operation. The head of Petronas expressed gratitude for the trust and assured of further fulfilment of obligations. At the end of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised readiness to strengthen partnership for the benefit of both countries and expressed best wishes to Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

15.05.2025The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on 14 May the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies of the United Arab Emirates, Director General of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazrouei and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Al Sayegh. The UAE representatives expressed gratitude for the opportunity of the meeting and emphasised the special importance of developing friendly and partnership relations with Turkmenistan. They also conveyed to Serdar Berdimuhamedov greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In turn, the President of Turkmenistan warmly greeted the guests and sent greetings back to the UAE top leadership. Turkmenistan is expanding international cooperation in the oil and gas sector

During the meeting the issues of expanding international cooperation in the oil and gas sector, introduction of innovations and advanced technologies were discussed. The sides stressed the importance of partnership with major foreign companies on the principles of trust and mutual benefit. The meeting was held in a businesslike atmosphere and readiness for further deepening of co-operation was emphasised. As a result of the meeting, agreements were signed between the state concerns ‘Türkmennebit’ and ‘Türkmengaz’ with the companies ‘Petronas’ (Malaysia) and ‘ADNOC’ (UAE).

The sides confirmed mutual interest in expanding partnership, emphasising the proximity of positions on key issues on the international and regional agenda. The guests conveyed warm greetings from the UAE leadership, and Hero Arkadag, in turn, sent reciprocal wishes and invited the UAE leadership to visit Turkmenistan. Prospects of cooperation in energy, transport, industry and high technologies were discussed. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the oil and gas sector. 15.05.2025The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 14 May met with representatives of Petronas - head of the company Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Executive Vice President Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab and Vice President for International Extractive Assets Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman. This was reported by TerraNews. The sides noted the friendly and constructive nature of relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia, built over more than 30 years of co-operation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Petronas for its contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry and stressed the importance of continuing joint work, including the implementation of new industrial projects. In addition, Hero-Arkadag reported on the signing of new agreements between Turkmen state concerns and companies from Malaysia and the UAE aimed at expanding the partnership. Special attention was paid to educational co-operation: more than 200 Turkmen students studied at the Petronas University of Technology. In this regard, the National Leader of the Turkmen People proposed to intensify the work on educational programmes and consider the participation of ‘Petronas’ in the construction of a new plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas. At the end of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence in further strengthening of partnership with Petronas and thanked the representatives of the company for cooperation.
