A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Berdimyrat Rejepov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Federal Republic of Germany, took part in the Global Tourism Forum 2025, which was held in Brussels on 20–21 October. Head of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has arrived in Italy on an official visit. Representatives of the Italian government and members of the Turkmen delegation welcomed the Head of State at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome-Fiumicino, according to the state news agency TDH. As part of his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Altare della Patria memorial complex, paying tribute to the heroes who died for Italy's freedom. Later, at the Quirinale Palace, negotiations were held between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. The parties discussed prospects for strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. At the ‘Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025’ conference in Ashgabat, Irina Luryeva, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Head of the ‘Türkmengaz’ State Concern Laboratory, presented a report on the status and prospects of the ‘Galkynysh’ field development. This was reported by the online news resource TerraNews. According to her, development is being carried out according to a seven-stage strategy. The first stage involves pilot commercial production: 52 wells are already in operation, 7 are being prepared for connection, and 8 are being drilled. The next stages involve a gradual increase in gas production, and the data collected will allow the geological and hydrodynamic model to be adjusted and development to be optimised. Full development of all stages could provide production of almost 200 billion cubic metres of gas per year. I. Luryeva also emphasised the importance of technological and environmental measures, including the utilisation of sour gases and the injection of carbon dioxide into aquifers and depleted reservoirs to reduce the environmental impact.
A delegation from Turkmenistan led by Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov took part in the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The event took place from 19 to 23 October in Geneva, according to IIC. In his speech at the plenary session on 20 October, the Minister emphasised the country's commitment to open and mutually beneficial trade and the importance of strengthening cooperation between developing countries. On the same day, the Turkmen delegation met with UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan to discuss digital trade, export support and the sustainability of global supply chains. During the session, the Turkmen delegation also participated in panel discussions and a conference for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), held negotiations with the Geneva Centre for Neutrality, the Swiss Joint Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and the International Trade Centre (ITC). Following the session, Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to develop international cooperation, strengthen exports and promote sustainable economic growth.
