The economic society “Aýdyň Gijeler” will receive 4 hectares of land in Eswatini for the construction of a production base. The decision was made following a meeting between King Mswati III and a delegation from the Turkmen company on 28 May in Abu Dhabi, according to the online publication “Business Turkmenistan”.
The parties agreed on a large joint project to produce 1.5 million national ID cards and more than 500,000 biometric passports for Eswatini. The king supported the initiative and promised state assistance.
The documents are planned to be produced on a secure chip platform by “Austrian Cards”, using modern cryptographic and biometric technologies that comply with ICAO and EU standards.
Long-term cooperation was also discussed in the fields of digital identification, telecommunications, IT, road infrastructure, and industry. The delegation held talks with relevant ministers of Eswatini, where technical details and the legal framework of the project were addressed.
The company noted that this is the first case of Turkmen private business reaching the level of a strategic partnership with Eswatini.
